Community Volunteer Opportunities

Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center

We always have volunteer opportunities, as we consistently need around 100 volunteers per week. No horse or special needs experience required! Must be at least 14 to volunteer, and we hold orientation sessions throughout the year. The next volunteer orientation training will be August 27th from 9:30am - 1pm.

WS Chamber of Commerce & WS/FC Schools - Corporate Volunteers Program

The Corporate Volunteers Program is a partnership between the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. The Chamber manages the program and we place volunteers throughout 16 of the district’s equity plus schools, (schools where more than 75% of students receive free/reduced lunch).

They are trying to connect 150 kindergarten students with caring adult volunteers currently. Typically, volunteers serving in our program work one-on-one with an assigned student for one hour a week, now through the end of April. We also allow 2 people to “partner” and share the responsibility of working with a student, so the student sees one of the volunteers every week, allowing the volunteers to alternate their visits to every other week. The time frame for choosing the hour is between 9 am and 2pm, and the volunteer sessions take place at the school where the volunteer signs up to serve.
